On December 5th, the 8th-grade orchestra had the honor of welcoming local composer Steven Stark to Cheyenne for a clinic on his composition, "Riding Through No Man’s Land." This piece is set to premiere at the 2025 Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA) Winter Conference in Tulsa as part of their Honors Concert. Orchestra members enjoyed learning about Mr. Stark's creative process and how he developed the ideas behind this remarkable composition. #ShineYourLight

Veterans Day was celebrated on Friday, November 8th with a reception for the veterans and their families followed by an assembly with the 8th-grade class. Colonel Otis L. Brown was our special guest speaker. Col. Brown served 30 years in the U.S. Army as a Senior Army Aviator. He served overseas during Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Cheyenne students and faculty were also honored to meet a WWII veteran, Ed Edmiston. He served in the U.S. Air Force and is the great-grandfather to Cheyenne students, Jackson and Hailey Williams. Thank you to all who served! #ShineYourLight
