Books & Buddies Brings Reading, Community, and Summer Fun Together
Frontier families gathered yesterday under the Falcon Landing pergola for our Books & Buddies summer reading event, a special opportunity for students, families, and teachers to connect through the joy of reading.
Books & Buddies is designed to encourage students to continue reading throughout the summer while maintaining connections with their school community. Research consistently shows that regular reading during summer break helps students strengthen literacy skills, build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and maintain the academic growth they achieved during the school year.
More importantly, reading creates opportunities for meaningful conversations, imagination, and lifelong learning. Whether students are reading independently, listening to a story, or sharing a book with a parent, every page helps foster a love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
Events like Books & Buddies also strengthen the sense of community that makes Frontier special. Students enjoyed spending time with their teachers, connecting with classmates, and meeting other Falcon families in a relaxed and welcoming environment. These moments help reinforce the strong partnerships between home and school that support student success.
We are grateful to our teachers and families who joined us and helped make the event such a wonderful morning. We hope our Falcons continue to explore new stories, discover favorite authors, and make reading part of their summer adventures.
Keep reading, Falcons! Every book is an opportunity to learn, grow, and imagine something new.

Happy Summer Reading! ☀️📖

Big cheers for our incredible students and staff who laced up, showed grit, and crossed the finish line at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon this weekend! From early morning miles to that final push, you represented our school with heart, determination, and true Oklahoma spirit.
Whether it was your first race or your fastest yet, every step told a story of perseverance, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💙

What a sweet night! 🍬🎉
Our school community had a wonderful time at Candyland Bingo Night on Thursday evening! Families gathered together to enjoy fun rounds of bingo, lots of laughter, and plenty of sweet treats. It was so great to see students, parents, and staff sharing smiles and cheering each other on.
Thank you to everyone who came out to make the night so special. Events like this remind us how lucky we are to have such an amazing and supportive school community! 💙 #FalconsRise

Our Falcons GLOWED at the Capitol Area Special Olympics Music & Dance Festival today! They brought the fun with an electrifying dance to “Glo in the Dark” by Danny Go! complete with glowing sticks, big moves, and even bigger smiles. The floor was shining, the energy was contagious, and Frontier showed up ready to dance, cheer, and celebrate together. Way to light it up, Falcons! 🧡🩵✨ #FalconsRise #ShineYourLight

Pam, our HIVI, goes above and beyond every day to make sure every student feels included, supported, and valued. Her positivity, dedication, and heart for students shine through in all she does. The team from CaveSim rolled into our school and transformed the day into a one-of-a-kind expedition beneath the surface of science, engineering, and discovery. A 26-foot mobile cave trailer was set up right on campus. With helmets on and LED lights shining, students stepped inside to explore a realistic cave environment filled with stalactites and stalagmites, carefully maneuvering through as they tried not to touch the formations! And that was just the beginning. They rotated through hands-on, interactive stations packed with excitement: a vertical caving tower, a cave-rescue stretcher team challenge, bat biology games, and more. Our 4th graders really rocked CaveSim! #FalconsRise #ShineYourLight

Third grade rotated through five genre restaurants, which included Starbooks poetry, historical fiction diner, informational bistro, biography pizzeria, and a traditional literature bakery! Students tasted books from each genre, learned the elements of the genre, and eventually completed the writing process to share an informational story about genres.

Today was a blast in 5th grade as we traveled back in time to the Colonial Era! 🕯️Students rotated through immersive, hands-on stations: sketching silhouettes, playing colonial games, crafting candles, learning traditional dances, and exploring the world of an apothecary. They also enjoyed tea and a historical movie, met a colonial soldier, and captured memories at a themed photo booth! It was the perfect mix of fun, history, and discovery! 🪶📜⚔️ #FalconsRise #ShineYourLight

A huge thank you to Jessica Hill, Steve Liebl, Jed Castles, Michael King, and Derek Mecklenburg for inspiring our students and showing them how community helpers make a difference every day! ✨ #FalconsRise #ShineYourLight

This morning, we also welcomed a paw-some guest speaker who shared fascinating facts about bear conservation and taught us the bear-y big differences between the bears roaming Alaska and the ones here in Oklahoma. 🐾
It was a grr-eat mix of fun, learning, and wild adventure! 🌲
